ARCUS Project is an art project
based in Moriya City, Ibaraki, Japan.
ARCUS runs several art programs with a focus on fostering grounds
for international exchange in the arts as well as in the local
community.
The artist-in-residence program is the core of ARCUS
Project
and we invite and support young contemporary visual artists
to take residency and pursue their artistic activities.
What is Artist-in-Residence?
Artist-in-Residence is a program which invites artists to
stay in a particular place for a certain period and supports
them to pursue their artistic activities in a local community.
It has become popular in Europe and USA since 50's or 60's,
and in Japan since 90's.
